Army Group Duke Albrecht

The Army Group Duke Albrecht was a large organization and the associated command authority of the German Army during the First World War (1914-1918). It comprised several armies or army divisions .

The "Army Group Duke Albrecht" was reorganized on March 1, 1917 as part of the reorganization of the Western Front and the subordination of the armies, which had previously been led directly by the Supreme Army Command , under Army Group Command and comprised the southern section of the Western Front starting at the interface with the German Crown Prince Army Group to the east from Verdun to the Swiss border.

Struggles

The southern section of the western front between Verdun and the Swiss border was considered a secondary theater of war after the western front had solidified in the trench warfare. Basically only positional battles of low intensity were conducted here. The troops deployed here (mostly replacement troops and Landwehr units) generally had little combat strength.
