Adrianus "Jan" van Stuijvenberg (born January 28, 1928 in Zaltbommel , Province of Gelderland ) is a former Dutch politician of the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) and most recently of the Democratisch Socialisten '70 (DS '70), who was State Secretary between 1971 and 1972 was in the Interior Ministry in the Biesheuvel cabinet .

Life

Van Stuijvenberg initially worked as an employee in a notary's office in his native Zaltbommel between 1948 and 1951 and then from 1951 to 1952 as an official in the secretariat of the municipality of Zuilichem , before he was a sales representative for the Gemeenschappelijk Administratie Kantoor (GAK) between 1952 and 1955 Institution for social security tasks. In 1955 he joined the service of the Reformed Dutch Church (Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk) , where he was the social work consultant until 1961.

At the end of the 1950s, van Stuijvenberg began his political commitment to the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) in local politics and was a member of the municipal council of Eindhoven between September 2, 1958 and September 1, 1970 . In 1961 he became head of the social security department of NV Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken in Eindhoven and held this position until 1965. He then worked between March 1965 and September 1970 as an alderman ( Wethouder ) for finances and operations in the city of Eindhoven.

Van Stuijvenberg, who left the PvdA on January 8, 1970 and joined the Democratisch Socialisten '70 (DS '70) as a member in April 1970 , became State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior on July 17, 1971 from Prime Minister Barend Biesheuvel (Staatssecretaris van Binnenlandse Zaken) in his government and held this office until July 21, 1972. In this position he was in particular responsible for the financial tasks of smaller local governments, the organization and efficiency of the public service, automation, the affairs of state printing and state publishing as well as the distribution of tasks responsible.

After leaving the government, on June 1, 1973, he moved to the organizational consultancy firm Ir, founded in 1938 by Berend Willem Berenschot . BW Berenschot BV and was initially group leader for government consulting and then from September 1, 1974 to 1980, deputy chairman of the board. He was most recently from 1983 to 1987 director of the Sint Catharina - Hospital in Eindhoven.
