Jane D. Hartley

Jane D. Hartley (born April 18, 1950) is an American diplomat and former US ambassador to France and Monaco. She is the second woman to hold this post after Pamela Harriman .

Life

Jane D. Hartley graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Massachusetts with a BA in 1972 . Since 1974 she worked for the Organization of Mayors of the Democratic National Committee . She then worked for the United States Department of Construction and was responsible for relations with Congress . Since 1978, she has served as the White House Assistant Assistant to President Jimmy Carter in the Office of Public Liaison . In 1981 she became a vice president of Group W. Cable . Since 1983 she worked for Westinghouse Broadcasting . Subsequently, she was Vice President for Marketing at MCA Broadcasting and from 1987 worked for WWOR-TV. From 1995 to 2007 she was CEO of the consulting firm G7-Group , after which she was CEO of the consulting firm Observatory Group . Since 2011 she has worked for the government organization Corporation for National and Community Service , whose focus is on volunteering. Hartley served on the Council on Foreign Relations for over ten years . She is considered an outstanding fundraiser and was able to collect over 500,000 US dollars for Barack Obama's election campaign in 2012 .

In 2014 she was nominated by the President to succeed Charles Rivkin for the post of Ambassador in Paris and was confirmed by the US Senate on September 16 . She is married to the investment banker Ralph Schlosstein, who accompanies her to Paris, and has two children.
