Jane Voigt

Jane Voigt (born Siemonsen ; born May 9, 1875 in Wimmersbüll ; † December 2, 1961 in Flensburg ) was a German politician ( DVP ).

Life

Jane Voigt was born the daughter of a teacher and moved with her family to Husum in 1879 , where she attended elementary school. After graduating from school, she tried to pursue a career as a teacher, but was rejected in 1891 at the preparatory institute in Augustenburg . She then graduated from the teachers' seminar in Schleswig and passed the exam there in 1894 as a primary school teacher. She then worked as a teacher, but ended her professional career when she married a teacher from Flensburg in 1897. From then on she was a housewife, lived in Flensburg and began her political activities there.

Voigt joined the German People's Party (DVP) in 1919 and was elected to the party's Flensburg board shortly afterwards. In the referendum in Schleswig , she advocated the continued membership of the voting zones in the German Reich. In February 1921 she was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which she belonged without interruption until 1932. In the first two legislative periods she represented constituency 13 (Schleswig-Holstein), in 1928 she entered parliament as a state election proposal. In addition, she was a member of the Flensburg magistrate from 1924 to 1926 .
