Janek Mäggi (born September 5, 1973 , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian politician . He belongs to the Estonian Center Party (Keskerakond) . From May 2018 to April 2019 he was Minister of Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia.

Life

After graduating from school, he studied law at the University of Tartu until 1999 . From 1997 to 2000 he was Vice President of SEB Pank . Mäggi is one of the founders of the consulting firm Powerhouse , for which he worked as CEO and consultant until May 2018.

On May 2, 2018, he was appointed Minister for Public Administration in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Jüri Ratas to succeed Jaak Aab . After the spring 2019 elections , he was not considered again as minister and returned to Powerhouse . In October 2019, he also resigned from the Center Party's executive committee after his lobbying links with the tobacco company Philipp Morris were revealed.

From 1999 to the beginning of 2015, Mäggi was President of the Estonian Dame Association. Between 2007 and 2017 he led the European association and since October 2017 he has chaired the world association.
