The Janet Rock ( French Rocher Janet ) is a small cliff rock off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located in front of ice cliffs 12 km west-northwest of the mouth of the Liotard Glacier in the D'Urville Sea .
The first aerial photos were taken during the US operation Highjump . Participants in a French Antarctic expedition carried out from 1952 to 1953 named him after the French philosopher Paul Janet (1823-1899). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the French name to English in 1955.
