Jannis Androutsopoulos

Jannis Androutsopoulos (* 1967 in Athens ) is a Greek linguist .

Life

From 1985 to 1990 he studied German , psychology and art history at the University of Athens . After completing his doctorate (1991–1997) in German language and translation studies at the University of Heidelberg , he was a DFG- funded Post Doc in Heidelberg from 1998 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2003 he was a research assistant at the Institute for the German Language in Mannheim . From 2003 to 2007 he taught as a junior professor for media communication at the University of Hanover . From 2007 to 2009 he was a reader in sociolinguistics and media discourse at King's College London . Since 2009 he has been teaching as professor for German linguistics and media linguistics at the University of Hamburg .

His work focuses on media linguistics, sociolinguistics, multilingualism and online research. He also works as a rap expert.
