For the documentation he produced, he and the author Richard C. Schneider received the Bavarian TV Prize 2000 for outstanding achievements in German television. The jury recognized his work with the words:

“With this outstanding series, the author Richard Chaim Schneider and the producer Janusch Kozminski have dealt with the life of Jews in Germany after 1945 in an unspectacular, but precisely for that reason so impressive, way for television viewers. The four-part documentary, which traces the everyday life and feelings of Jewish citizens in both parts of Germany, offers a piece of carefully researched and richly illustrated contemporary history from the end of the war to the end of the century beyond its specific topic. The Bavarian TV Prize 2000 for 'We are there!' honors an exemplary documentary achievement. "

His documentary 183 Days - The Auschwitz Trial , which he completed in 2015, was also well received by the media.

Kozminski was the father of three children.
