Janusz de Beaurain

Janusz de Beaurain (born December 25, 1893 in Warsaw , † December 23, 1959 in Edinburgh ) was a Polish brigadier general .

Life

De Beaurain took part in the First World War as a member of the Polish Legions . He joined the Air Force of the Second Polish Republic in 1918 and took part in the Polish-Soviet War from 1919 to 1921 . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on May 3, 1922 , this promotion being dated back to June 1, 1919. As such, he was initially deputy head of the Central Aircraft Factory CZL (Centralne Zakłady Lotnicze) in Warsaw between 1922 and 1925 , where he was promoted to colonel on March 31, 1924 with retroactive effect to July 1, 1923 . On March 1, 1925, he took over as the successor to Colonel Hipolit Łossowski, who died on February 10, 1925, as head of the Central Aircraft Factory CZL and held it until 1928. He then acted as head of the Institute for Technical Aviation Research between 1928 and 1932 and at the same time as commander of the 1st Fliegergruppe from 1929 to 1935.

In November 1935, de Beaurain became Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Air Forces and held this post on his discharge in March 1939. During this time he was promoted to Brigadier General in March 1939 . At the time of the German attack on Poland at the beginning of the Second World War and until January 1942, he was at the special disposal of the commander in chief and took part in the campaign in the west as such .

For his many years of military service, Abraham was awarded the Virtuti Militari , the Order Polonia Restituta (Officer) and the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland (Golden).
