Tokyo Darts Masters

The Tokyo Darts Masters is a darts tournament that was organized by the PDC as part of the World Series of Darts . The competition was held for the first time under this name in 2016 , which was also the last one. In 2015 it ran under the name Japan Darts Masters . The venue in 2015 was the Osanbashi Hall in Yokohama and in 2016 the Kokuritsu Yoyogi Kyōgijō in Tokyo .

In 2016, Gary Anderson replaced the reigning winner Phil Taylor when he defeated Michael van Gerwen in the final with 8: 6 legs .

format

The field of participants consisted of 8-16 players. Eight of them were seeded and the other eight possibly unset.

In addition to the top 6 of the PDC Order of Merit, two further wildcards were awarded before the season . These eight players form the eight seeded players in each tournament in the World Series series . In addition, eight regional players have the opportunity to qualify as unset players.

The tournament was played in a knockout system . In the first round the game mode was best of 11 legs . The quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final were all played in best of 15 legs mode.

Prize money

The prize money for the Tokyo Darts Masters was not officially announced.

Since it was an invitation tournament, the prizes won were not taken into account when calculating the PDC Order of Merit.
