Jari Matti Lipponen (born October 17, 1972 in Kemi ) is a former Finnish archer .

Career

Lipponen was runner-up behind South Korea in 1991 with the Finnish team . The following year he took part in the Olympic Games for the first time . In Barcelona he reached the final with Ismo Falck and Tomi Poikolainen in the team competition, in which they lost to Spain and thus won silver. In the individual he was eighth after losing to the later Olympic champion Sébastien Flute in the quarterfinals . In 1996 he finished 20th in the individual in Atlanta , eighth with the team. In 2000 he was also part of the Finnish squad, which this time was not represented in the team competition. In the individual competition he reached the 50th place. A year earlier, Lipponen had become runner-up behind Hong Sung-chil at the World Championships . At the European Championships in 1994 he won the title both individually and with the team.
