Sébastien Flute

Sébastien Flute (born March 25, 1972 in Brest ) is a French archer who became Olympic champion in 1992.

The 1.70 meter tall Flute became the European junior champion in the individual and team competitions in 1989, and in 1991 he won the individual competition at the indoor world championships and took sixth place at the outdoor world championships. In 1992 Flute won the individual standings at the European Championships, with the team he finished second. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he was eleventh in the qualification, but prevailed quite confidently in the following rounds. In the final he met the South Korean Chung Jae-Hun , who Flute could beat with 110 to 107 rings. The French team was able to eliminate the reigning Olympic and world champions from South Korea in the quarter-finals, but then lost the semi-finals against the Finns and the battle for bronze against the British.

A year later, at the World Archery Championships in Antalya, the Olympians from France faced the Olympics from South Korea in the final. Lionel Torres , Eric Unbekand and Sébastien Flute won the world title for France, the third after 1931 and 1939. In 1994, Flute won silver in the individual standings and bronze with the team at the European Championships, and in 1995 he was runner-up in the hall with the team. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he finished 39th in the individual ranking, the team was eliminated in the round of 16. In 1998 and 2000 Flute won bronze with the team at the European Championships. At his third Olympic participation in Sydney in 2000 , Flute finished eighth in the individual ranking and eleventh place with the team.
