Jarmila Rážová

Jarmila Rážová (born September 14, 1961 ) is a Czech epidemiologist and hygienist .

Life

She studied epidemiology, hygiene and public health while studying medicine at the University of Defense in Brno and Stanford University . She started her career as a hygienist in Nymburk . From 2003 to 2007 she was employed by the Czech Ministry of Health, where she rose to head of department. From 2008 to 2009 she worked at the National Health Institute Státní zdravotní ústav , where she headed two departments. She then moved to Prague, where she was responsible for public health in the same function as a hygienist.

On March 12, 2020, she was appointed the country's chief hygienist during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic . She replaced her predecessor Eva Gottvaldová .
