Jaroslav Vejvoda (born July 1, 1920 in Prague ; † July 28, 1996 there) was a Czechoslovak football player and football coach .
Player career
Jaroslav Vejvoda started with the small Prague club SK Břevnov . At the age of 14 he switched to SKEP Prague . In 1942 he went to Sparta Prague , with whom he became a master in 1946 and 1948. In 1948 he played briefly for Slavia Prague , which at that time was called Dynamo Prague. He then worked at Vítkovické železárny before ending his career in 1953.
On October 14, 1951, he ran for the first and last time in the dress of the Czechoslovak national team . In the game against Hungary in Ostrava he scored one goal, but his team lost 2-1.
Coaching career
In 1954 he became a coach at Baník Vítkovice . From 1958 to 1960 he was in charge of Baník Ostrava . He made a name for himself as the coach of Dukla Prague , whose team he coached a total of three times, for the first time from 1960 to 1966. Dukla was Czechoslovakian champion four times in a row during this period . Between 1966 and 1969 he was a coach at Legia Warsaw , with whom he won the Polish championship in 1969 . Vejvoda then returned to Dukla until 1973. In that year he went back to Legia Warsaw and stayed there until 1975. Then he took over the team from Dukla Prague for a third time and was able to lead them again in 1977 and 1979 to win the title.
At the end of the 1979/80 season he retired from coaching.
