Jath ( Joth ) was a princely state of British India on the Dekkan Plateau in today's state of Maharashtra . The marathon state of Jath was founded in 1686 by Deshmuk Satvajirao. He was a British protectorate from 1818 to 1947 . In 1941 Jath had an area of 2541 km² and 105,000 inhabitants.

After Great Britain decided on July 18, 1947 to give India and Pakistan independence (see History of India ), Jath first became independent, and the last Raja , Vijayasingh Rao Ram Rao ("Baba Sahib Daphle" - 1936–56), founded the United Deccan States together with 15 other princes , which were incorporated into the state of Bombay on February 5, 1948 . On March 8, the Raja formally annexed India. On November 1, 1956, all principalities were abolished. On May 1, 1960, the new state of Maharashtra emerged from the southern part of Bombay.
