Javaanse Jongens is the brand name of Theodorus Niemeijer BV, a tobacco manufacturer from Groningen . This group is now a wholly owned subsidiary of British American Tobacco . The name is reminiscent of the former Dutch colony of the Dutch East Indies , today's Indonesia , to which the island of Java also belongs. The island was famous for its spices, tea and tobacco products, which the Netherlands traditionally sold as colonial goods across Europe. Accordingly, two Indonesians can be found on the logo in traditional clothing with turbans , each holding a cigarette.

The tobacco is offered as fine-cut tobacco. According to the manufacturer, it should do without aromatic additives. The cigarette tobacco is a typical American blend in the flavors: Classic, Starch, Extra, Tembaco, White, Halfzware and Deluxe. The name is not a designation of origin for Javanese tobacco.
