Javier Ángel Balboa Osa (born May 13, 1985 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish- Equatorial Guinean football player . His preferred position was right midfield.

Career

, Often Javi Balboa Rocky Balboa called, has its roots in Equatorial Guinea . His parents Ricardo and Purificación fled to Spain during the dictatorship of Francisco Macías Nguema , where Javi was born two years later in Madrid. He began his football career in the suburb of Alcalá de Henares , with the CD Avance and RSD Alcalá clubs , before finally moving to Real Madrid at the age of 14 . In the summer of 2005 he became part of the squad for the Real Madrid Castilla second team . The following season he celebrated on October 26 against Deportivo La Coruna his debut in the Primera División , on December 6 he ran in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiakos Piraeus on. In the summer of 2006 he was awarded to Racing Santander for one year to gain match practice. After his return to the "Royal" he was able to win the championship with his team , but only made five appearances. In the summer of 2008, the Portuguese top club Benfica Lisbon signed Balboa. With the capital city he won the Taça da Liga . In winter 2010 he switched to FC Cartagena in the Spanish Segunda Division on loan until the end of the season . Since he was hardly considered even after his return to Benfica, he moved to Albacete Balompié again on loan in winter 2011 . In the summer of 2011, the Portuguese first division club SC Beira-Mar signed the right winger.

National team

Balboa made his debut on June 2, 2007 against Rwanda in the Equatorial Guinean national football team . Balboa scored the first goal of the tournament at the 2012 Africa Cup when he scored 1-0 for Equatorial Guinea against Libya in the closing stages.
