Javier Delgado , full name Javier Omar Delgado Papariello , (born July 8, 1975 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.82 meter tall midfielder Delgado was at the beginning of his career from 1992 to 1994 in the ranks of the Uruguayan first division club Danubio FC . A stint with Newell's Old Boys (five league appearances / no goal) in 1996 and a second engagement with Danubio from 1996 to 1999 led his career path to Colón de Fanta Fe in 1999 . He played for the Argentines until 2004. He is said to have played 135 league games and scored 20 goals. From 2004 to 2005 he was active in Russia at Saturn Ramenskoye . He then returned to Uruguay, where he was under contract with Nacional Montevideo from 2006 to 2007 . In 2007 he was a player at Universidad de Chile , in 2008 he continued his career in Colombia at Deportivo Cali . There he ran 14 times in Primera A and scored one goal. In the 2008/09 season, another engagement at Danubio that began in August 2008 saw a goal of the season in the Primera División for Delgado. In early August 2009 he joined the then first division club Central Español . With the Montevideans he came nine times (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league in the 2009/10 season. In 2010, the statistics show 13 games (no goal) in Primera B and one encounter (no goal) in the Copa Chile at the Chilean club Deportes Concepción for Delgado. In mid-2011 he moved from the Chileans to the Rampla Juniors , for whom he completed six games (no goal) in the Primera División that year.

National team

Delgado took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship in 1992 and was runner-up in the South American championship. During the tournament he was used by coach Ángel Castelnoble four times (no goal). The following year he reached the quarter-finals of the Junior World Cup in 1993 with the Celeste . He was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his debut under national coach Héctor Núñez on July 17, 1996 in a 1-1 draw in the friendly against China as a member of the starting line-up. In the following years he played under national coach Juan Ahuntchaín for the last time at the Copa América 1997 . After a long break in his national team career, he celebrated on June 6, 2004 in the World Cup qualifier against Colombia, which Uruguay lost 5-0, under the now responsible national coach Jorge Fossati his comeback with his 5th international appearance. Under the aegis of the latter, he took part in the 2004 Copa America . His last appearance was on August 17, 2005 in the 2-0 defeat in the international friendly against Spain. Fossati was also the national coach in charge at the time. He made a total of 14 international matches. He didn't score a goal.
