Arturo Javier Ledesma Velasco (born September 19, 1958 in Guadalajara , State of Jalisco ) is a former Mexican soccer goalkeeper who was active between 1979 and 1995 and was most of the time under contract with Chivas Guadalajara . He was also known by his nickname "el Zully".

Career

Javier Ledesma emerged from the offspring of his home club Chivas Guadalajara. First he was under contract with Guadalajara for six years between 1979, the beginning of his professional career, and 1985. At that time, however, his performances were relatively unstable and he also had some opponents within the team. These factors favored his loan to the Club Atlético Monarcas Morelia for the 1985/86 season. But for the 1986/87 season Guadalajara brought back his former goalkeeper, which in retrospect turned out to be a wise decision. Because Ledesma played almost all games for his old and new club that season and became the great support on the way to the first championship of the Chivistas after 17 lean years without a title. El Zully, who from then on could prove himself as a high-performance goalkeeper and gave the defense stability and security, stayed with Chivas Guadalajara until 1993, before he started his career in the seasons 1993/94 and 1994/95 with the neighboring professional team of the Universidad de Guadalajara let out.

His international career was of minor importance. Overall, Zully Ledesma came between May 13, 1987 against Bermuda (6-0) and February 21, 1989 against Guatemala (2-1) only to five international appearances.
