Javier Menéndez , full name Javier Menéndez Luis , (born July 21, 1974 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The 1.84 meter tall goalkeeper Menéndez was in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Montevideo Wanderers from 1992 to 1997 . From 1998 to 2001 a station at Club Atlético Cerro followed . He then moved to Club Sportivo Cerrito in 2002 and ran there at least in the 2003 Apertura in 17 league games in the Segunda División and in 30 first division matches in 2004. In 2010 there was another station at Club Atlético Progreso .
National team
Menéndez was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship in Colombia in 1992 . Uruguay finished the tournament as vice South American champion. During the tournament he was not used by coach Ángel Castelnoble . The following year he joined the team trained by Castelnoble at the Junior World Championship in 1993 and reached the quarter-finals. There you had to admit defeat to the host Australia. In the course of the tournament he was again without use.
