Jayaraman Srinivasan

Jayaraman Srinivasan (born September 26, 1947 ) is an Indian climate scientist . He is a professor at the Indian Institute of Science .

Life

Srinivasan earned a bachelor's degree from IIT Madras in 1969 and a master's degree from the State University of New York in 1971 . He received his PhD from Stanford University in 1975 . Scientific activities at IIT Kanpur followed . In 1992 he was appointed professor of mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore (now Bengaluru), having previously worked there as an assistant professor and associate professor.

Act

One of the main focuses of Srinivasan's research is solar energy . With the help of a specially constructed solar pond , he demonstrated the technical and economic feasibility of such systems in the tropics. He also dealt intensively with climate modeling , in particular the modeling of monsoons . In his work, he illustrated the importance of natural and anthropogenic aerosols on the climate of the Indian subcontinent.

Srinivasan is one of the authors of the Second (1995) and Fourth Assessment Reports of the IPCC (2007).
