Jazz Point

The Jazz Point Dixieland and Swing Band was founded in 1991 in Horgen, Switzerland by trombonist Matthias P. Jenny.

The initial line-up of the band consisted of Matthias Jenny, Günther Sellenath (trumpet), Fritz Steiner (clarinet and saxophone), Urs Kälin (bass), Hans Brunner (drums) and Edy Kieser (banjo). In 1995 the trumpeter and singer Herbie Saurer and the saxophonist Igor Celko came to Jazz Point .

From 1998 to 2007 the band played with the same line-up: Matthias P. Jenny ( trombone ), Herbie Saurer ( trumpet / vocals), Igor Celko ( soprano and baritone saxophone ), Hans Brunner ( drums / washboard ), Edy Kieser ( banjo ) and Jimmy Wettach ( bass / tuba ).

Trumpeter / singer Markus Hächler has been playing with the band since 2008. In 2014 Richard Lipiec (cl, ts, voc) switched to Igor Celko.

2019 with new musicians: Matthias Jenny, leader, trombone and vocals, Gregor Bruhin, trumpet and vocals, Daniela Sernatinger, clarinet, saxophone and vocals, Hanspeter Hotz, bass, banjo and guitar, Ruedi Morgenthaler, banjo and guitar, Flavio Ferrari, drums and singing.

The band has been performing under the name JENSON JAZZBAND since 2019.
