Richard Lipiec

Richard Lipiec (born June 12, 1948 in Poland ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( clarinet , alto and occasionally tenor saxophone , flute ) of Polish origin.

Lipiec, who was born and raised in Poland, studied at the Conservatory in Kielce and at the Wrocław Academy of Music ; In 1972 he obtained the concert diploma for clarinet. He then played with the Warsaw Radio Orchestra and various jazz groups, including radio, television and recordings. At the end of the 1970s he migrated with his family to Switzerland and took up residence in Dübendorf , where he works as a music teacher.

From 1996 to 2013 he was a member of the Metronome Quintet and was involved in its album production. He has been playing at Jazz Point since 2014 . He also played with musicians such as Benny Waters , Wild Bill Davison , Kenny Clarke , Alvin Queen , Fritz Pauer , Vince Benedetti , Marc Hemmeler , Dusko Goykovich and Jimmy Woode . He also belongs to Shrink & Jazz and the bands of Martin Hugelshofer, René Bondt and René Scholl.

His daughter is the singer Elisabeth Lipiec.
