Jean-Baptiste Farochon

Jean-Baptiste Eugène Farochon (born March 10, 1812 in Paris , † July 1, 1871 ibid) was a French medalist and sculptor.

Farochon was a student of David d'Angers . In 1835 he won the 1st Grand Prix de Rome and studied from 1836 to 1839 at the Académie de France à Rome in the Villa Medici . He then became a professor at the École de gravure . From 1864 to 1871 he was head of the engraving atelier of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In addition to numerous medals, he created a marble statue and a bust of Jean-Jacques Rousseau owned by the Louvre .
