Jean-Bernard Vuillème

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean-Bernard Vuillème (* 1950 in Neuchâtel ) is a Swiss writer and journalist .

Life

Jean-Bernard Vuillème grew up in La Chaux-de-Fonds . After training as a journalist, he worked for various daily newspapers and magazines in western Switzerland. He is the father of three children from two marriages.

Under the pseudonym Bernard Jean, in his novel The Son of the Next Day , he addresses the fluctuations in the identity of a child, then an adult, who belatedly discovers the existence of his birth father, whom he had always felt despite all family taboos. In addition to the autobiographical aspects of his work, Jean-Bernard Vuillème introduced “the rare dimension of burlesque in French literature”. This happened in particular with L'Amour en bateau , Face à dos , Pléthore ressuscité or even M. Karl & Cie , whose main character is trapped in a reality game looking for a prestigious job that is so perverted that he doesn't know that he takes part in it.

In addition to his novels, Jean-Bernard Vuillème publishes literary works that are difficult to classify and deal with aspects of ethnology , sociology and history. He works as a literary critic for the Le Temps newspaper .
