Jean-François Mattéi

Jean-François Mattéi (born March 9, 1941 in Oran , Algeria , † March 24, 2014 in Marseille ) was a French philosopher and university professor .

After a diploma in political science at the Institute for Political Studies in Aix-en-Provence in 1965 and the state examination in philosophy ( Agrégation ) in 1967, Mattéi first taught philosophy at high schools in Toulouse and Marseille . In 1980 he became professor of philosophy at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis .

The focus of his research was on political philosophy and dealing with the philosophical thinking of ancient Greece.
