Jean-Jacques Lagrenée

Jean-Jacques Lagrenée (born September 18, 1739 in Paris , France , † February 13, 1821 there ) was a French painter and draftsman .

Life

Lagrenée, also known as the younger , learned some of his skills from his older brother Louis Jean François Lagrenée . With this he traveled to Russia from 1760 to 1762 . From 1763 to 1768 he was a laureate of the Prix ​​de Rome and lived and worked in the Roman Académie de France à Rome .

In 1769 Lagrenée was accepted by the Parisian Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture , but he did not become a full member until 1775. His masterpiece was the Plafond de l'Hiver in the Apollo Gallery of the Louvre .

The painter was buried in Section 49 of the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris .
