Jean-Louis Gagnaire

Jean-Louis Gagnaire (born April 29, 1956 in Saint-Étienne ) is a French politician . He was a member of the National Assembly from 2007 to 2017 .

Gagnaire, who took over the family business after the death of his father , studied education and public administration at the Institut d'études politiques in Lyon . After that he was a student at the ENA from 1988 to 1990 . His political engagement began in 1982 when he joined the Parti socialiste . In 1998 he took part in the elections to the General Council of the Loire Department and the Regional Council of Rhône-Alpes . He succeeded in entering both parliaments. In the 2007 parliamentary elections , he ran in the second constituency of the Loire department and was elected to the National Assembly with 53.99 percent of the vote in the second ballot.

In 2012 he was re-elected in the runoff election with 59.93 percent. In 2017, Gagnaire decided not to run again for election. His time as a Member of Parliament ended on June 20, 2017.
