Jean-Marc Lorber (born December 21, 1978 in Ambilly , France ), grew up in Freudental , is a German composer and singer who, in TV appearances, combines his music with educational work on Tourette's syndrome.

Life

After a meningitis , Jean-Marc Lorber developed his first motor tics at the age of nine. Vocal tics were added at the age of eleven. In 1993, Tourette's syndrome was diagnosed . In the same year he discovered music and composed his first melodies. Jean-Marc Lorber is tic-free while making music.

After a depressive phase, Jean-Marc Lorber became a member of the Stuttgart boy band “N'JAM” in 1995, which will be continued from 1997 as the duo R8 ChoiZ. Lorber intensified his songwriting skills as well as his singing in the field of contemporary R&B and hip-hop soul in this formation. In 2009, Lorber appeared for the first time in the report "Tics und Zwänge" from AZ-Media TV on RTL. In 2011 Lorber achieved the qualification for the boot camp in the duo R8ChoiZ on the TV show X Factor (Germany) . In February 2017 he published the audio book "Tourette in my head - From the art of living and thinking differently" in collaboration with Patrick Lynen .

music

Jean-Marc Lorber describes his style of music as "Neuro-Soul" and "Si-fi R&B", whereby Si-fi is to be understood as "situational finding", which refers to rapidly changing thoughts and movements. Jean-Marc Lorber also appears under the name SpellfireJaMaL.

Educational work on Tourette's syndrome

Jean-Marc Lorber's TV appearances combine his music with educational work on Tourette's syndrome. Since 2006 Lorber has been involved in the Tourette Gesellschaft Deutschland eV and in the association Tic & Tourette Syndrom eV as well as in the self-help group Tourette and ADHD in Stuttgart. In September 2017, Lorber composed the ironic Tourette hymn "Be loud" together with 16 Tourette sufferers as part of the IVTS music workshop TICs.
