Jean-Marie Valhubert , actually Jean-Marie Mellon Roger (born October 22, 1764 in Avranches , † December 3, 1805 near Austerlitz ) was a French général de brigade .

Life

In 1784 Mellon Roger joined the army as a volunteer and distinguished himself several times during the Revolutionary Wars. He fought before Valenciennes and Quesnoy (September 13, 1793); in the latter he was taken prisoner of war.

Later he was able to return to his homeland on his word of honor. He was a great admirer of Napoleon and after several promotions came to the rank of general on his staff. He fought at Montebello (June 9, 1800), Marengo (June 14, 1800) and Mincio (December 25, 1800).

Under the leadership of Marshal Louis Gabriel Suchet , Valhubert fought in the Battle of Austerlitz (December 2, 1805) and was seriously wounded. The next day he succumbed to his injuries and found his final resting place on the edge of the battlefield.
