Career

Jean-Philippe Rohr began his professional career at FC Metz . Rohr made his professional debut on May 27, 1980, when he came on as a substitute for Philippe Hinschberger on the 38th and final day of the match against RC Lens in the 64th minute . He made his breakthrough in the 1982/83 season when he was able to fight for a regular place in that season. The following season he won the French Cup . In the final, AS Monaco were defeated 2-0 after extra time. In the following season, Rohr also played in the European Cup for the first time, as FC Metz, as the cup winners, had the right to start the European Cup Winners' Cup . In the first round they caused a big surprise when they were able to kick out the Spanish club FC Barcelona . In the first leg, in which Rohr also made his European debut and also scored his first goal in the European Cup, FC Metz lost 4-2. In the second leg at Camp Nou they defeated the Catalans 4-1. In the second round, Dynamo Dresden , from the GDR, turned out to be too big. After his career in Metz, Rohr played for OGC Nice . Rohr also became a regular player in the southern French and played until 1987. Then the native Metzger moved to AS Monaco. He only stayed there until 1989. National team

Jean-Philippe Rohr took part in the 1984 Summer Olympics with the French Olympic team. On September 9, 1987, he played his only international match for the senior team when he was substituted on after 74 minutes for French goalscorer José Touré in the 1-1 qualifying for the European Championship against the Soviet Union in Moscow .
