Life

Nantes also became French champions that year. The following season Nantes reached the runner-up championship. In the 1980/81 European Cup , they were eliminated in the second round. The 1981/82 UEFA Cup was even worse, with the end of the line in the first round. The next year was more successful. Touré became French champions with Nantes in 1983 and reached the final in the national cup, which was lost 3-2 to Paris Saint-Germain after Touré had previously brought his club to 2-1 with his goal. At the 1983/84 European Cup , Nantes was eliminated again in the first round. In 1985 and 1986 Nantes was runner-up and in the 1985/86 UEFA Cup they reached the quarter-finals, where Touré injured his knee against Inter Milan .

Then he moved to Girondins Bordeaux . FC Lokomotive Leipzig . In the next season, Bordeaux was runner-up and reached the quarter-finals of the 1987/88 European Cup , which was only won by the later tournament winner PSV Eindhoven because of the away goals rule .

In 1988 Touré went to the reigning champions AS Monaco . With the Monegas he reached the quarter-finals in the 1988/89 European Cup and the final in the French Cup. Because the winner Olympique Marseille was also a champion, Monaco was allowed to take part in the European Cup Winners' Cup 1989/90 , where they were only defeated in the semifinals against the later European Cup winner Sampdoria Genoa . He ended his career at the end of the season. In 1994 he published the autobiography Prolongations d'enfer , in which he confessed to doping during his time in Nantes.

Touré was appointed to the French national team 16 times between 1983 and 1989 and scored four goals. With the Olympic selection, he won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games . Before the 1986 World Cup he was a regular player. Because of his knee injury from the UEFA Cup, he missed the World Cup in Mexico.
