Jean-Pierre Dautel
Jean-Pierre Dautel (born November 25, 1917 in Ancenis , † April 16, 2000 in Caen ) was a French conductor and composer.
Live and act
The son of the engraver Pierre-Victor Dautel studied at the Paris Conservatory and won a Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1949 . In 1951 he was appointed director of the Caen Conservatory, which under his direction then became a National Conservatory in 1978 ( Conservatoire national de Région de Caen ). He managed the facility until he retired in 1986.
In the year of his arrival in Caen, Dautel founded the Orchester de chambre de Caen , which initially consisted of musicians from the region, but later also attracted award winners from the Paris Conservatory and above all violinists from the Jean Fournier school , including Ludovic Passavant and Philippe Bertemont . At the end of the 1950s, the orchestra recorded a recording of Mozart's Missa brevis and his coronation mass with the Chanteurs de Saint-Eustache , which was received with great acclaim.
In 1959 Dautel gave a concert with his orchestra in the St-Eustache de Paris , where he performed works by Corelli , Telemann , Bach , Monteverdi and again Mozart's Missa brevis . Shortly afterwards he recorded the concert à Versailles au temps de Louis XIV with compositions by Rameau , Pierre-Montan Berton , Marc-Antoine Charpentier and François Couperin .
In 1980 Dautel wrote an arrangement of Rameau's Pièces de clavecin en concerts , which he recorded with his orchestra as Six Concerts en sextuor . In the same year he founded a festival for contemporary music in Caen. On the occasion of his retirement in 1986 he gave a solemn symphony des adieux in the Abbaye aux Hommes de Caen with the participation of many friends and students .
