Pierre-Victor Dautel

Pierre-Victor Dautel (* 1873 in Valenciennes , † 1951 in Ancenis ) was a French engraver and medalist .

Dautel attended the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris , where he was a student of Adolphe François Maugendre and Louis-Ernest Barrias . In 1902 he won the Grand Prix de Rome and was a guest at the Villa Medici in Rome until 1905.

He became a member of the Salon des Artistes Français and was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1929 . Dautel was known as a medalist and creator of numerous plaques. He also designed a stamp for Pierre de Ronsard's 400th birthday in 1924. Dautel's son was the composer and conductor Jean-Pierre Dautel .
