Jean-Pierre Olivier
Jean-Pierre Olivier (* 1939 ) is a Belgian classical philologist and mycenaeologist .
Olivier was Directeur de recherches of the Belgian Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique and is now, after his retirement, Directeur honoraire de recherches.
He was briefly married to Christiane Sourvinou .
He works on the Cretan hieroglyphs , the Linear A and Linear B script and the other Aegean writing systems . In close collaboration with Emmett Leslie Bennett , John Chadwick , Louis Godart and John T. Killen , he was involved in the creation of the inscription corpora for the Linear A script and the Linear B inscriptions from Knossos and Pylos .
