Jean Agélou (born October 16, 1878 in Alexandria , † August 2, 1921 in Gien ) was a French portrait and erotic photographer in the 1910s and 1920s.

Life

Jean Agélou was a master of his time in erotic photography for French postcards. His brother Georges Agélou helped him with sales. His preferred model was his girlfriend Fernande Barrey (1893-1960), who was also a prostitute . In 1917 she married the Japanese- French painter Tsuguharu Foujita (1886–1968). Another model was Maud d'Orbay , an actress. When nude photography was banned in France in 1908, the demand increased. The two brothers died in a traffic accident in 1921.
