Jean Bélot
Jean Bélot (* around 1913; † August 17, 1959 ) was a French table tennis official . He was the first President of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU .
Bélot was Secretary General of the French Table Tennis Federation FFTT until 1959. He was ready to take on international tasks. He was at the Congress of the ITTF elected in 1953 in the ITTF Board of Directors. He also worked on various ITTF committees.
When the European Table Tennis Association ETTU was founded in 1957 , he was elected President. He held this office until the end of his life in 1959. His successor was Josef Vandurel .
Bélot died in August 1959 while on vacation on the Riviera. In 1960 the ETTU Congress appointed him an honorary member of the ETTU. Since then, the trophy received by the host country of the European Championships has been renamed the Jean Bélot Cup .
