Jean Blake Coulthard

Jean Blake Coulthard (born Robinson ; born August 13, 1882 in Moncton , † July 16, 1933 in Vancouver ) was a Canadian pianist and music teacher.

Coulthard studied piano with Charles Dennée at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. From 1905 she lived in Vancouver, where she founded the Vancouver Woman's Musical Club , of which she was president from 1910 to 1912. She became particularly well known as an interpreter of contemporary piano works, especially those by Maurice Ravel . In the early 1920s she helped found the British Columbia Music Teachers' Federation . She taught singing and piano. In addition to her daughter Jean Coulthard , her students included singers Maxine Castleton and Joan Peebles .
