Jean Finger
Jean Finger (born March 29, 1854 in Steffisburg , † September 9, 1944 in Lengnau near Biel ) was a Swiss watch shell manufacturer .
Life
Jean Finger was born on March 29, 1854 as the son of Johannes Finger in Steffisburg. For many years, Finger was head of the Eterna company in Grenchen . In 1889 he founded the watch shell factory in Lengnau. Jean Finger, who was married to Christina Elisa, the daughter of the watch shell manufacturer Emanuel Jöhrin in Lengnau, died on September 9, 1944 at the age of 90 in Lengnau near Biel.
Act
Together with his son Jean (1890–1970), Finger developed a waterproof watch case between 1929 and 1931 , thus making an important contribution to the development of modern wristwatches .
