Jean Jacques Kickx

Jean Jacques Kickx (born January 27, 1842 in Ghent ; † March 27, 1887 there ) was a Flemish botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " JJKickx ".

Live and act

Jean Jacques Kickx was the son of Jean Kickx and Hélène-Louise Kesteloot. He studied natural sciences at the University of Ghent , took his doctorate in 1863 and then worked for Julius Sachs at the University of Bonn . After the death of his father, he returned to the University of Ghent, where he became an associate professor of botany in 1867 and a full professor from 1871. From 1885 to 1887 he was rector of the University of Ghent.

He finished and published the work Flore cryptogamique des Flandres that his father had started.
