Jean Marie River ( Slavey : Tthek'éhdélį "water flowing over clover") is a "Designated Authority" in the Dehcho Region in the Northwest Territories in Canada . The parish is located at the confluence of the Jean Marie River and the Mackenzie River . The place has an airport of the same name and is accessible all year round by charter flights. According to the Northwest Territories Statistics Bureau, it is connected to the Mackenzie Highway by an all-weather road , and according to the Northwest Territories Parliament, the town is only connected to the highway in winter. The next Royal Canadian Mounted Police Station is in Fort Simpson and there is neither a hospital nor an ambulance in Jean Marie River, but a health station, the "Jean Marie Health Cabin". There is a single grocery store. Education is provided by the “Louie Norwegian School”, which extends up to the tenth grade.
Demographics
According to the 2006 Canadian census , Jean Marie River has 81 residents, the majority of whom are First Nations . The two main languages are South Slavey and English .
