Jean de Lascaris-Castellar (also Jean-Paul or Jean Baptiste , born June 28, 1560 , † August 14, 1657 ) was the 57th Grand Master of the Order of Malta .

Coming from the Ventimiglia dynasty , Lascaris belonged to the Provençal tongue of the order when he was elected Grand Master on June 13, 1636. He held office until his death in August 1657.

During his tenure, Spain and France waged war against each other, which led to considerable tension between the knights of the order of the two nations, which demanded some diplomatic skill from him. During his tenure, the Valletta inland fortification line called " Floriana Lines " was completed on Malta , the construction of which had started under his predecessor according to plans by the famous Italian engineer Pietro Paolo Floriana . He also began to add the Lascaris Towers named after him along the coast to the island's fortification system .
