Jeannie with the light brown hair ( Japanese  風 の 中 の 少女 金 髪 の ジ ェ ニ , Kaze no Naka no Shōjo: Kinpatsu no Jenī , dt. "The girl in the middle of the wind / storm: The blonde Jeanie", alternative title: Jeannie ) is a Japanese Anime - television series , which was produced in 1992 and 1993. The story is based on the song Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair published by Stephen Foster in 1854 and is a remake of the 1979 anime series Kinpatsu no Jeanie .

action

The action takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania around 1838.

Jeannie is a happy young girl who leads a carefree life, loves to play with her friends Stephen and Bill, and loves music. When her mother dies, however, this joy changes. At first she finds it very difficult to cope with the situation, but she receives support and encouragement from her friends. Jeannie's father is a village doctor and marries the wealthy Diana. However, this ensures that Jeannie has to go to a girls' boarding school far away from home. There she has to fight a lot of injustices and has to assert herself against the others. To help her, Bill is hired as a servant there. Stephen goes to school near her. Later she does an internship in a children's home and the three become young adults, with deeper emotions at play.

Production and publication

The series was produced by Nippon Animation in Japan between 1992 and 1993 . This resulted in 52 episodes. The character design was created by Masahiro Kase and the artistic direction was Masamichi Takano .

The series first aired on TV Tokyo between October 15, 1992 and September 30, 1993 . The German first broadcast took place on June 12, 2001 on RTL II . Further broadcasts took place on ORF eins and tm3 . The series was also shown on Italian, Filipino, Spanish and French television.

The music for the series was composed by Hideo Shimazu . The opening credits are Taiyō o Oikakete ( 太陽 を 追 い か け て ) and Omoide no Kagami ( 思 い 出 の 鏡 ) was used for the credits . Both songs were sung by Mitsuko Horie.
