Jeanny Dom
Jeanny Dom (born February 5, 1954 ) is a former Luxembourg table tennis player and official. She was one of the best players in Luxembourg in the 1970s. Since 1995 she has been Secretary General of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU .
Active time
Jeanny Dom began playing table tennis in 1965. As early as 1969, when she was 15, she was nominated for a world championship for adults. However, she achieved great success in the youth sector when she won bronze with the girls' team at the European Youth Championships in Ostend in 1971. To date (2010) this is the only medal that Luxembourg has won at the European Youth Table Tennis Championships. She won the Luxembourg International Championships five times. She also took part in world championships five times, namely in 1969 , 1973 , 1975 , 1977 and 1979 , without ever coming close to medal ranks.
Because of her successes, she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in Luxembourg in 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1975 to 1978 .
Functionary
After the end of her active career, Jeanny Dom took on official duties. From 1986 to 1992 she worked at the secretariat of the Luxembourg table tennis association FLTT. From January 1993 she was employed by the European Table Tennis Association ETTU . In January 1995 she replaced Vladimir Palecek (CSSR) as ETTU General Secretary. She held this office until 2013. Because of her merits, she was offered honorary membership in the ETTU in September 2015.
