The Jefford Point is by a rock cliff shaped headland on the south coast of James Ross Island off the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 13 km east-northeast of Cape Foster and forms the eastern boundary of the entrance to Swift Bay at the southwest end of Admiralty Road .
Participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld carried out the first measurements. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) re-mapped them in 1948 and 1952. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1957 after Brian Jefford (1922-1994), FIDS geodesist in Hope Bay in 1948 in Admiralty Bay the following year.
