Jeffrey Bruinsma

Jeffrey Bruinsma (* 1977 ) is a Dutch jazz violinist.

Bruinsma studied classical and jazz violin at the Conservatory of The Hague and obtained a Masters degree from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2002 . Since 2001 he has been leading his own band, the Bruinsma Syndicaat , to which the violist Oene van Geel , the percussionist Afra Mussawisade and the woodwind player Marten Ornstein belong.

He also worked with the Orkater theater group , the singer Maarten van Roozendaal , the Concertgebouw jazz orchestra , the Zapp! String quartet, the Maartje ten Hoorn string quartet and the groups Jargon and Room Eleven . In 2005 he composed the music for the ballet Paramount by the choreographer Ed Wubbe . He also directed the international ensemble that the Scapino Ballet performed when the piece - u. a. at the Tel Aviv Opera House - accompanied.

In 2006 he won the Deloitte Jazz Award in Amsterdam , and the following year he composed the music for the music theater show Basluik . In 2008 he recorded the live album Area 51 in the Concertgebouw with his group Syndicaat (with Gulli Gudmundsson , Jesse van Ruller , Martiin Vink and Afra Mussawisade ) .
