Smirnova started in February 2014 in Syktyvkar first time in Eastern-Europe Cup and finished it the 51st place over 10 km classic and 27th place in the sprint. In March 2016, she became the Russian junior champion in skiathlon in Izhevsk . In the 2018/19 season, she achieved 16th place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup with three top ten placements. She achieved her first podium in the Eastern Europe Cup with second place in the 5 km freestyle in Werschina Tjoi . At the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk at the beginning of March 2019 , she won over 5 km classic, in the pursuit and in the 15 km mass start race, the silver medal and with the relay the gold medal. After she won her first victory in the Eastern Europe Cup at the beginning of the 2019/20 season in Shchuchinsk over 5 km freestyle, she started the Ruka Triple in the World Cup for the first time at the end of November 2019 . She ran to 54th place in the sprint, 48th place over 10 km classic and reached 30th place in the pursuit race, her first World Cup point and finally 42nd place in the overall ranking of the Ruka Triple. This was followed by three placements in the points and at the end of the season in Kononovskaya over 10 km freestyle the second victory in the Eastern Europe Cup. She finished the season in 80th place in the overall World Cup and in tenth place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup.
