Jelly (plastic)
Jelly is a plastic made of PVC that has been enriched with up to 30% phthalates , i.e. plasticizers (soft PVC).
Jelly is mainly used for sex toys such as dildos , vibrators or butt plugs . But it is also used for other items such as sandals or flip-flops .
Problems
Some phthalates have hormone-like biochemical properties, are absorbed through the mucous membranes and could possibly cause damage to health (e.g. cancer and genetic changes). In addition, jelly always contains residues of solvents such as toluene and various undesirable by-products from PVC production.
Jelly also has the peculiarity of having a very unpleasant smell; however, the odor usually disappears after a while.
Soft PVC is prohibited in children's toys, medical material and in the food sector. A harmless alternative to sex toys is z. B. silicone .
