Jennifer Kerns

Jennifer Jane Kerns (born August 4, 1976 in Spokane ) is an American basketball coach and former player.

career

Born in Spokane , Washington State, Kerns played basketball at Coeur d'Alene High School during her school days in Idaho and then at Lake City High School. In 1995, she was named Idaho's Best High School Basketball Player.

Between 1995 and 2000 she was a member of the Washington State University basketball team . In 115 games for Washington State, she scored a total of 110 three-point throws, making her third place in the college's all-time list of the best when she switched to professional life in 2000. They placed their 350 basket templates in fifth place.

The 1.72 meter tall player began a professional career, her first stop was the Danish club Stevnsgade BBK in the 2000/01 season. In the 2001/02 season, Kerns initially worked for BMS / Herlev and thus for another Danish club, but moved to Malba's BBK in Sweden during the season. Between summer 2002 and January 2003 she was again in the service of Danish clubs, first BF Copenhagen, then again BMS / Herlev. In all of her Scandinavian stations, Kerns stood out as a strong offensive player. At the beginning of 2003 she moved to Belediyespor in Turkey. She also gained experience in European Cups with the Turkish club.

After an engagement at the Dutch club ProBuild Lions in Landsmeer , Kerns joined the German Bundesliga club BG 74 Göttingen during the summer break of 2004 . Until 2009 she was the top performer of the "Veilchen" and partly playing co-trainer.

During her professional career as a player, Kerns had also worked as a youth coach at their respective clubs. From the 2009/10 season she looked after Göttingen's women's team as head coach in the regional league (the team had previously been withdrawn from the Bundesliga) and took over the office of youth coordinator at BG 74. In the 2010/11 season she led Göttingen's women to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2011/12 season, the BG 74 was runner-up in the 2. Bundesliga North under Kern's leadership, and the semifinals were reached in the following year. She remained in office in Göttingen until 2014. "As a player, player-coach, head coach and youth coordinator, she has given Göttingen women's basketball a face over the past decade," wrote the Göttinger Tageblatt on the occasion of Kerns' farewell.

For the 2014/15 season she took up the post of head coach at Bundesliga club SV Halle . Her term of office there ended after a season in Halle. Kerns returned to her homeland and worked in the administration of her native Spokane.
