David "Davie" Robertson Adams (born May 14, 1883 in Oathlaw , † November 29, 1948 in Edinburgh ) was a Scottish football goalkeeper . In his career he played over 200 competitive games for Celtic Glasgow and won the Scottish championship six times with the club .
Career
Davie Adams was born in 1883 in the Scottish village of Oathlaw , four kilometers north of Forfar . Until 1902 Adams played for Dunipace FC in Denny . In December 1902, the goalkeeper signed a contract with Celtic Glasgow . He made his debut for the club at the age of 20 on September 26, 1903 in the league game against Hibernian Edinburgh which was won 1-0. Under Willie Maley , the coach of Celtic, Adams remained a regular goalkeeper until 1912. With the club he was between the seasons 1904/05 and 1909/10 six times in a row champion, four times cup winner and achieved five successes in the Glasgow Cup . After retiring, Adams first ran a pub in East Kilbride , and later in Tranent . He died in a nursing home in Edinburgh on November 29, 1948 at the age of 65.
